Chapter 3:Parents
ROSEWOOD: AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY
It was January 13, 1996 when my parents arrived at a community
dance event in Tampa, Florida. My father had recently arrived in
Florida from India. It was the birthday of his first child, who lived in
Pennsylvania at that time. He had planned to fly to visit there to
celebrate the birthday, but there was a major snowstorm in the
northeast and all flights were cancelled. Since he could not go, he
decided to attend this dance in Tampa. My mother, who had been in
Florida for some months, regularly attended these events with a
friend. However, this night her friend could not go, so she decided to
attend alone. Toward the end of the evening as was the custom,
there was a waltz dance. My parents met during that dance and came
to realize that they both were living in the same city in the center of
the state. They agreed to exchange contact information, so that
perhaps they could travel together to future events. I believe it was a
God ordained meeting that led to their growing relationship over the
next months.
Traveling several hours in a car together provides a lot of time for
sharing. During those times, my parents realized that God had placed
them both in Florida for His purposes. It was truly God who directed
their relationship over these months and gave them the
understanding that they were to form a "Sacred Partnership."
They knew that they were called to give birth to a ministry that would
be used by God in a mighty way.
AS THIS DEVELOPED, MY FATHER WAS CALLED TO RETURN TO THE PROJECT IN
INDIA. HOWEVER, BY THAT POINT, IT WAS CLEAR TO HIM THAT GOD HAD GIVEN
HIM A DIFFERENT CALL. AS A RESULT, HE REMAINED IN FLORIDA ULTIMATELY
LOSING THAT JOB BUT TRUSTING THAT GOD WOULD GIVE HIM EMPLOYMENT
THERE.
On October 12, 1996, my parents married. Shortly after that they
began the more immediate preparations for my birth. That will be the
subject of my next sharing.
